Frequently Asked Questions: Nox Home Sleep Test

What if I have to get up in the middle of the night?
No problem — the Nox test device will continue recording while you move around. Just take care not to get the test equipment or sensors wet.

The nasal cannula/belt/wrist oximeter/finger probe came off while I was sleeping. Is this okay? How do I know if everything else was recorded properly last night?
If the nasal cannula, belts, or sensor become disconnected, simply reposition them and go back to sleep. When your test is reviewed, our clinical team will determine whether the recording is sufficient for an accurate result or if a retest is needed. Most studies are valid even if a sensor comes loose for a short time. If you believe a sensor was disconnected for much of the night, please call our Support Line the next morning.

How many hours of sleep do I need? How many nights should I record?
Only one night of testing is required. We recommend at least 6 hours of recorded time with all sensors properly attached to ensure accurate results.

I slept worse (or better) during my home sleep test than I typically do. Will my test still be accurate?
It’s normal for sleep quality to vary from night to night, as well as with the use of a testing device. Despitethe sense that you may not have slept as well as usual during the test, the Nox test device will still reliably detect sleep apnea if it is present.

Something unexpected came up (e.g., I need to go out of town, I feel sick). Should I hold on to my Nox Test kit?
If something comes up — for example, you feel unwell or need to travel — please call our Support Line as soon as possible. Our team can help you reschedule your test or provide next steps.

I have a question about my test or results. Whom should I call?
Once your test kit has been returned, your results are usually available within 48 hours. Please review your test results with the clinician or healthcare provider who ordered your test.

I lost the return shipping envelope. What should I do?
Please call our Support Line. A Home Sleep Testing specialist will send you a new prepaid return envelope or provide instructions for returning your test kit.

What happens if I can’t return the Nox test kit the next day?
Please return your test kit the day after completing your study. While the kit is in your possession, you are responsible for its care. Your study should be completed and returned within 3 days of receipt. If you are unable to return it within this time frame, please call our Support Line for assistance.
